CorelDRAWs Table tool can come in handy for complex web-to-print layouts. These are some of its features to help you better understand how it works.
About the tool
The Table tool can be found in CorelDRAW toolbox menu on the left. This is a new tool that was introduced in CorelDRAW X4 for the first time. Learn more about using the CorelDRAW table tool in your web-to-print templates. Part 1 of this tutorial covers:
Checkout Part 2 of this tutorial to learn how to add colors, texts and images to the table.
Drawing tables
There are two ways to draw a table:
/
/
Activate CorelDRAW Table tool from the toolbox on the left, click and drag on the page to draw the table.
/
/
/
Go to Table/Create New Table… in the top CorelDRAW menu and specify the table dimensions, rows and columns.
/
/
Table borders
You can change the values of the border width and colors in the top properties bar of the table tool.
/
/
/
To adjust each of the borders separately, click on the border icon and choose the borders you wish to change from the drop-down menu.
/
/
/
This option lets you create borders with different colors and different widths.
/
/
/
Combine/Split table cells
/
To select table cells you need to click on a cell with the CorelDRAW Table tool, hold and drag the cursor till you see the desired cell(s) highlighted.
With the cell(s) selected, click on one of the icons at the end of the top table properties bar to:
- Combine the selected cells into a single cell;
- Split the selected cells horizontally;
- Split the selected cells vertically or
- Split the selected cell back to the state it was before you merged it.
Cell spacing
There are two ways to add space between the cells in your table.
/
/
The easier and more accurate way is to add cell spacing through the options menu in the top settings bar.
/
/
/
/
Use this option to add generic values for all horizontal and/or vertical spaces between the cells in the table.
/
/
/
/
Another way to do it is to add additional cell columns and rows and use them as empty spaces between cells.
/
/
This option is useful when you’re trying to add different width spaces between specific cells of the table.
/
Note. The minimum cell width and height is 4mm.
