CorelDRAW table tool – part 2

CorelDRAWs Table tool can come in handy for complex web-to-print layouts. These are some of its features to help you better understand how it works.

About the tool

The Table tool can be found in CorelDRAW toolbox menu on the left. This is a new tool that was introduced in CorelDRAW X4 for the first time. Learn more about using the CorelDRAW table tool in your web-to-print templates. Part 2 of this tutorial covers:

Table cell colors

You can change the colors of your entire table and each of the cells separately by assigning uniform, fountain, pattern or any kind of fill to them.

Select the table and assign a color to it to change the color of all the elements in the table at once.

Note. This will not change the color of the cells that have color assigned to them separately.

To change the color of a specific cell you need to select the cell from the Object Manager (Window/Dockers/Object Manager) and assign a color to it.

Text inside table cells

CorelDRAW paragraph text frames/

All table cells contain a blank Paragraph text frame inside them. Double click on a table cell and type in your text.

Note. You can use these text frames as variable text fields in a web-to-print template.

CorelDRAW table cell margins/

To add space between the paragraph text frame and the border of the table cell, click on the table cell with the CorelDRAW table tool and click on Margins in the top properties bar of the tool.

CorelDRAW text alignmentThe horizontal and vertical text alignment options are available to you in the top properties bar. For additional text options, use the Paragraph Formatting Docker (Top menu/Text/Paragraph Formatting).

Images inside table cells

CorelDRAW add imageLeft click on the image, hold and drag on top of the target table cell till you see the cell highlighted.

Release the left click and select Place Inside Cell.

The image is cropped by the table borders but is still editable and you can move it inside the cell by clicking on it with the CorelDRAW Pick tool.

Note. The cell still holds the Paragraph text frame and you can add text on top of the image.
