Duplicated text

28/11/2008

A simple technique that you can use to add a bit more “flavor” to your web-to-print templates by making the text more fun.

Web-to-print Duplicated text

Before you start

  • Add a page frame (Layout/Page Setup/Add Page Frame). This will create a rectangular shape with the exact same size as the paper size of your template and place it as a bottom layer.
  • Input some dummy text, set the horizontal alignment and turn it into a variable web-to-print field.

Select the dummy text and click on the No Fill box in your color palette. This will make the text itself transparent.

Open the Object Properties docker (Alt+Enter). From the Outline tab, assign a small (Ex. 0,25 mm) outline to the dummy text and choose an outline color.

The result should be similar to this.

Duplicate

Now duplicate the dummy text as many times as you want and assign a different outline color to each copy.

Left click on the dummy text, move the cursor to the desired position while holding down the left click and Right Click to confirm duplication.

Since the text has no fill and only the outlines are visible, you can use this technique on all kinds of backgrounds.

All done!

Our web-to-print software can handle this effect easily! Upload the template into your catalog and test it.
