Free vs. Paid

SendThisFile has a very satisfactory free account, but the Google ads they show on your page do not give your site much credibility. Their Basic Plan ($9.95 a month) should be good enough for a infrequent uploads. Consider other plans for more traffic and more storage.

HTTP vs. FTP vs. FLASH

These three technologies have their advantages and disadvantages. You decide which one is for you.

HTTP: work through any browser, ubiquitous, guaranteed to work, but if a file upload breaks it may start from the beginning, which may be another long wait for large files.

FTP: users need special tools, some skills, firewall changes and possible administration problems in large corporate environments, but if the connection drops it will resume from where it stopped.
Works best for IT-savvy users.

Flash: may not work in security-conscious corporate environments, but otherwise combines the best the other two.
