The paragraph text frames in your template can be any shape you want. Here are some tips and tricks on how you can draw shapes with text using the help of the Envelope tool.

Before you start

Add a page frame (Layout/Page Setup/Add Page Frame). This will create a rectangular shape with the exact same size as the paper size of your template and place it as a bottom layer.

• Use the Text tool (F8) to draw a rectangle text frame and paste a long dummy text inside it.
  /
• Set Force Justify as the text’s horizontal alignment.
  /
• Turn the text frame into a variable web-to-print field.

Note. This technique works only on Paragraph text frames!

Shaping the text frame

Select the text frame and activate CorelDRAW’s Envelope tool from the tool box menu on the left.

Notice the nodes that appear along the edges of the text frame. You can move those nodes around by clicking on them and dragging them to the desired position.

To add new nodes where needed, right click on the edge of the frame and click Add.

Right clicking on a node opens other options for the node that you will find usefull while going arround the text frame and shaping it.

• Cusp – makes the adjustment arrows of the node independent of one another and is used for creating corners.
  /

• Smooth – makes the adjustment arrows of the node connected in a straight line and is used for making smooth edges.
  /



• Symmetrical – makes the adjustment arrows of the node connected in a straight line and equal in length.
