Dynamic imaging products

Some products do not need output file generation. Unlike web-to-print templates used for generating print-ready output files, dynamic imaging templates are only used for preview generation.

Our web-to-print extension for Magento allows you to mark products as dynamic imaging ones from inside Magento admin panel. Such products can be checked out without generating print-ready files.

Setting dynamic imaging products

There are two ways of marking a product as a dynamic imaging one. This can be done at an individual product level or at a category level. Here’s how.

Product level

Navigate to Catalog / Manage products from the top menu in Magento admin panel. Click on the product you want to flag as a dynamic imaging one to get to the product’s details page. In the web-to-print templates tab, tick the Dynamic imaging check-box and save your changes.

Set a product as a dynamic imaging one

From that point on, the product will be considered as a dynamic imaging product and no print ready files will get generated when a customer places an order on that product. This will happen regardless if the template fulfills the requirements for a dynamic imaging template (single page, pixel units…). The order details page will only contain a “Download image” link rather than links to the different types of output files that web-to-print templates produce.

Category level

To mark an entire category as a dynamic imaging one, navigate to Catalog / Manage Categories from the top menu in Magento admin panel. Select the category (or sub-category) you want to flag as a dynamic imaging one to get to its details page. In the Display Settings tab, choose Yes for the  Dynamic imaging drop-down menu and save your changes.

Set an entire category as a dynamic imaging one

From that point on, all products in that category will act as a dynamic imaging ones.
